Skills Workshop

Got Skills? Of course you do, you’re a DI Team! Come to our Skills Workshop to learn more!

The Skills Workshop has multiple stations where each team spends 20 minutes learning a new skill. Woodworking, fasteners, how to write a skit, use of electricity, how to work with PVC, and many other skills. The Skills Workshop may give the kids ideas for IC solutions or their Central Challenge.

HOW TO REGISTER - REGISTRATION IS REQUIRED TO ATTEND:

IMPORTANT: Each team must REGISTER HERE to participate. REGISTRATION DEADLINE IS FRIDAY JANUARY 10th! If your team shows up without registering they won’t be able to participate.

Each team needs 1 adult (usually team manager) to stay with the team, and at least 1 adult volunteer to help in with a skill. It’s not hard, and it’s fun. We will provide all of the materials and help get them started. Having two adult volunteers makes it easier!

SPECIAL REQUEST: Do you or one of the parents of your Team know a unique skill they would like to share at the Skills Workshop? Are you passionate about acting/theater, art, robotics, electronics, or any other topic? If so contact amayer@caldi.org about hosting a 20 minute rotation at the Skills Workshop! We would love to have a Lego Robotics session at the Skills Workshop.

The cost is $20 per team.

Questions:

If you have any questions please reach out to Alan Mayer (amayer@caldi.org).

Virtual InfoNight

This is a Virtual Information Session to provide information about Destination Imagination!

See below for slides, recording, and other links to help you get started!

Click here for the slide deck in PDF format. The links in PDF work.

Click here for brief summary of all challenges.

Here is a full copy of the ‘Technical Challenge’ for this year. You’ll get access to the rest of the challenges which have similar documents after you register your team. This shows the level of detail provided for each challenge. Remember, “If it doesn’t say you can’t then you can!” when reading it. Don’t forget, a solution does not have to be technical to win. The younger the kids, the simpler the solution!

Click here for recording of Zoom meeting (Just over an hour including Q&A)

Are you interested? Or maybe interested?
